On Tuesday 12/18, Governor Doug Ducey appointed defeated Republican Martha McSally to fill the last year of John McCain's term in the US Senate after Jon Kyl announced that he would resign after the current Congressional session. McSally was defeated soundly by Democrat Kyrsten Sinema in the November election, even failing to gain votes from her own district's constituents in Pima County, AZ! The question is whether her "Concession" in the election was because of a back room deal already schemed between her and Ducey to get her into the Senate even though she was clearly set to lose the election (Sinema's home region--Maricopa County--had yet to be fully counted and Sinema was pulling father and farther ahead with each hour). Seems like some collusion going on... Ducey could have done better by appointing someone from the Arizona Senate to the position--perhaps even supporting the Native American community by providing presence in the US Senate. But no...politics as usual for the benefit only of the politician. Comments?
