WW2 Veteran Don Ibeling’s daughter receives a plaque commemorating her father’s service.

JAN 15, 2019 (Mesa, AZ) - Mr. Don Ibeling, a long-time Mesa resident, served in the 398th Bombardment Group, United States Army Air Corps, in 1944 and 1945. His missions included bombing runs from bases in England, supporting the push across Western Europe into Germany. His missions often carried him through fields of flak from German anti-aircraft artillery and attacks by German fighters. He was fortunate to be one of the valiant airmen who served honorably and was able to return home to raise a family and help America grow during the post-war period.

A ceremony celebrating his life and service was scheduled for January 12th at his residence in Mesa. Sadly, Mr. Ibeling passed away the day before the ceremony was to take place. Dr. Carl Forkner, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) East Valley Chapter 8 Adjutant and Arizona Northern District Commander presented the recognition to Mr. Ibeling’s daughter, who accepted on his behalf.
