Today was a beautiful day in Mesa, AZ, just east of Phoenix. Falcon Field, our local private and executive airport (no commercial passenger flights) had its annual open house. Falcon Field is also home to the AZ Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and their B-17G “Sentimental Journey” and B-25J “Maid in the Shade.” It truly makes for a sentimental journey through time!

Also at the open house each year is “Impala Bob’s Classic Car Show. This year a very special car was part of the show–a Corvette that bears the names of hundreds of military personnel and Veterans. I had the honor of watching a young mother and her young daughter as the mother signed the name, service, and dates for her husband on a special place reserved for Gold Star families. Her husband was a Marine who had been killed in action in 2011.

Below are a few photographs of the car. It has already appeared at the USS Lexington (CV-16) museum last year.

Many have signed… I signed for my Dad and myself.
